It's that time of year again, folks! Time to grab your guns and head out into God's country. That's right, the 2024-25 hunting and fishing season is almost upon us, and I can't think of a better way to stick it to the libs than by partaking in some good old-fashioned Texas pastimes.

Here's a handy guide to ensure you don't miss a thing this season:

What's New This Year?

• Chronic Wasting Disease: Keep those liberal tree-huggers at bay with new zones in Coleman, Real, and parts of Brown County.
• Doe Days: Now expanded to 43 counties in the Post Oak Savannah and Pineywoods ecoregions. Find out if your county is on the list.
• Fall Youth-only Seasons: Teach 'em young! Fridays added for bagging white-tailed deer, squirrels, and wild turkeys.
• Wild Turkeys: You know what they say about Texas turkeys—the more, the merrier! Mandatory harvest reporting now required statewide. Season dates and bag limits have also been updated for specific counties. Check here for details.
• Light Geese: No more conservation orders! Bag up to five light geese per day and possess a mighty 15 at once.
• Spotted Seatrout: Limits? More like suggestions! Keep 3 trout per day, with a minimum length of 15 inches and a maximum of 20. But remember, with great freedom comes great responsibility: you can only keep one over 28 inches per license year (unless you spring for that Bonus tag).

Doe Days Explained:

For all you city-slickers, "Doe Days" are when we get to bag ourselves some female white-tailed deer. No, it's not sexist, it's tradition!

Texas Hunting License:

Don't forget to renew your license before Aug. 31! New licenses are available from Aug. 15 at over 1,700 locations statewide:

• Buy online, stay brave, and avoid the liberal grocery stores.
• Find a nearby retailer and support local business!

Lifetime licenses and combo packages are also available for the Texas patriots committed to the long haul.
