Breaking News: Texas Football Player Vernon Broughton Chooses Love Over Orange-White Game

When the Texas football team held its Orange-White Game this spring, defensive lineman Vernon Broughton was a no-show. But it wasn't because he was slacking off or nursing an injury. Oh no, my fellow patriots, this man had a much more important engagement.

"I got married in Dallas, Texas to my beautiful wife, Camille Broughton, (who) I love dearly."

That's right, folks! While his teammates were battling it out on the gridiron, Broughton was exchanging vows with his blushing bride. You might be thinking, "Well, that's a valid excuse!" and you'd be right. Especially considering that Broughton had set his wedding date before the UT spring schedule was released. Now that's what I call a "business decision"!

But let's not undersell Broughton's dedication to the team either. He's a hard-working, God-fearing, family man who has put in the blood, sweat, and tears for his team. Just ask his teammate, offensive lineman Hayden Conner:

"Vernon's been a guy who's always worked every single day. He's getting his shot now and it's showing... He's going to be a really good piece for us on defense this year."

At 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds, this Houston-born-and-raised defensive powerhouse is a force to be reckoned with. And with two sacks and 30 tackles under his belt, he's looking to fill the big shoes left by T'Vondre Sweat and Byron Murphy II in the middle of that defensive line.

So, let's raise a glass to Vernon and Camille Broughton, and remember, sometimes love does conquer all, even football.
