Rick Steves Battles Prostate Cancer: PBS Travel Guru Tackles New "Amazing Trip"
Folks, gather 'round! Rick Steves, our favorite travel-lovin', PBS-hostin', guidebook-writin' American hero, dropped a bomb on Wednesday – he's been diagnosed with prostate cancer. But don't worry, this ain't no sad story. Rick's takin' it like a champ!
In a lengthy statement posted to social media, the 69-year-old Steves shared the news and gave us a sneak peek into his upcoming adventure.
Doc told him, "If you're going to get cancer, this is a good kind to get." Scans show no signs of spreadin', so that's a win! He didn't reveal the stage, but who cares? Rick's ready to rumble!
For the next few weeks, it's business as usual. Rick's doc cleared him for filmin' two new TV shows in France. He'll be back home in Edmonds, Washington, by mid-September. Then comes the main event – prostate surgery, likely in late September.
"I’ll likely get my surgery in late September, be laid up for a month, and—God willing—be cancer-free and back at it by the end of October," Rick said.
This guy's got the right attitude! He's goin' into this cancer thing like it's just another "amazing, really important trip." He even asked fans to send love, support, and "travel tips" for his new journey. Classic Rick!
