A Denver-based data center builder, Tract, is expanding into South-Central Texas with three projects planned in Caldwell County, and the South and far West sides of San Antonio. Collectively, these developments will cover nearly 3,600 acres and have an energy demand of up to 5,200 megawatts. The largest of the three, described as a "mega-campus," will be in Caldwell Valley, Caldwell County, spanning almost 3,000 acres with a capacity of 4,000 megawatts. The Applewhite Technology Park in South San Antonio will cover 339 acres with a 720-megawatt capacity, while the Medina Technology Park on the far West Side will be a 265-acre, 500-megawatt facility.

Caldwell County, part of the Austin metro area, has attracted other data center projects and led the county commissioners to call for increased state regulation of such facilities. Tract estimates its Caldwell County project to be operational by 2028. The company currently operates in seven states, with the highest concentration of projects in Nevada. Tract took over a residential development in Arizona in 2024, transforming it into a $20 billion, 2,000-acre data center complex.
