A man accused of killing his cousin in Taylor in May told another person that he attacked the victim with a hammer during a fight, according to an arrest affidavit. Devin Olguin, 30, who is homeless, was charged with murder in the death of Alfred Olguin Flores Jr., 48, on June 2. The investigation began when Taylor police received a call on May 3 about a "cardiac event" in the 1000 block of Price Street and found Flores' body underneath a tent beside a house, the affidavit says. Flores' sister told police that Flores and Olguin had "ongoing problems". Olguin called a witness between 2:30 a.m and 3:30 a.m. on May 3 to request a ride after the fight, police said. When the witness picked up Olguin, they noticed that he had blood on his face and took him to the Sunrise Hotel in Taylor. Another witness said Olguin had also called them early on May 3, saying that he beat Flores with a hammer. The witness went to the Sunrise Hotel, took the bag of Olguin's clothing and then burned the clothes on the south side of Taylor.
