Austin’s rock n' roll bar, The Lost Well, is closing its doors for good. Founder Marcello Murphy shared the news on Facebook, stating that the property will be sold and the bar has 60 days to vacate. The bar received an offer to purchase the lot for $3.5 million cash or $4.2 million with owner financing, but the price was out of reach. Murphy called it "the end of times," and a loss for the community. The Lost Well, founded by Murphy and his wife Tasha 11 years ago, was known for its welcoming community and live music scene. Patrons and staff are mourning the closure, with one regular calling it "a death in the family." The bar will celebrate its final anniversary on August 9 with performances and commemorative shirts. A GoFundMe has been set up to support the bar's final expenses. Murphy reflects on the bar's impact, saying, "I’ve never felt so much love in my life... I'm proud of that."
