Misfit Moshpit: A Resurrected Riot

Old heads, new heads, and bald tattooed heads united as the original Misfits rose from the grave for a 90-minute performance at Moody Center. Black-clad punks of all ages packed the stadium, with the older generation proving their headbanging credentials.

Reverend Horton Heat: A Hardcore Hoedown

1) Reverend Horton Heat surprised as a heavy opener, sandwiched between Agnostic Front and Suicidal Tendencies. Their intense rockabilly had the punk crowd captivated and perplexed, with a mosh pit pulsing to the bass and fingerpicking. Jimbo Wallace's upright bass and playful stage presence stood out, with the crowd chanting along to "Jimbo Song."

Instrument Carnage

2) Four instruments perished. Glenn Danzig set the tone by throwing the mic stand, and soon guitarist Wolfgang von Frankenstein was snapping guitars. A bass guitar met its end, and Jerry Only went feral, assaulting another. Danzig quipped about the Texas weather, and the mayhem continued.

Texas: A 42-Year Wait

3) The Misfits' last Texas performance was in 1982. A disoriented Danzig acknowledged the long gap, and the band launched into "Horror Business," with pit dwellers running amok. Danzig challenged the crowd: "If you can handle it, we can handle it."

'Halloween' Hysteria

4) The crowd reached a new level of fervor for "Halloween," with thousands of punks screaming the lyrics. Pumpkin heads flashed their eyes, and the pit became a war zone with dual tornadoes of moshers. Silver-haired grand-punks headbanged with conviction, proving their dedication.

Visual Vibes: From Martians to Monroe

5) Each song was paired with signature visuals. Animated UFOs, Maila Nurmi as "Vampira," and Marilyn Monroe's montage accompanied their respective songs. Archival footage of Kennedy's "Camelot" era and George Romero's zombie classic added unexpected depth.

As elbows swung and necks swung in the pandemonium, Danzig summed it up: "There's no one else I'd rather be with...As evil is, as evil does. Just like I like it."
