Frontier Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Las Vegas

A Frontier Airlines flight landed safely after pilots detected smoke and declared an emergency during an attempted landing at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Flight 1326 from San Diego was in the process of landing when "pilots detected smoke and declared an emergency," according to a statement from Frontier Airlines. The Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) confirmed the emergency landing occurred "after the crew reported smoke in the cockpit."

Video footage captured flames under the plane and a trail of smoke as it came to a stop on the runway.

"The aircraft landed safely, and all passengers and crew were evacuated via airstairs," the airline stated, adding that no injuries were reported.

Airport officials told CNN that the plane “experienced a hard landing where basically tires blew.” The airport did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for an update.

"Fire & Rescue extinguished a fire on the right engine," the FAA said.

The flight carried 190 passengers and seven crew members.

Following the incident, the FAA issued a ground stop at the airport until 7 p.m. Saturday, according to CNN.

Frontier said the cause of the fire is under investigation. The National Transportation Safety Board will also investigate the incident, as stated in a post on X Sunday.
