Texas' Favorite Grocery Store, H-E-B, Finally Adds Tap-to-Pay

H-E-B has announced that it will be rolling out digital tap-to-pay services in all of its stores. This phased rollout means the feature will be gradually introduced across the country. Once implemented, customers can make purchases using Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay at flagship stores.

San Antonio Area First to Get New Tap-to-Pay Service

H-E-B will implement tap-to-pay services region by region, with the service becoming available to groups of stores each day throughout the month. San Antonio residents will be the first to experience the new feature.

The supermarket chain said it will take about a week to launch tap-to-pay at each location. Texas locations, as well as Mi Tienda stores in Houston, will see the service throughout the month.

Ashwin Nathan, H-E-B Group Vice President of Marketing and Payments, expressed excitement about introducing the service:

"At H-E-B, we're always exploring a broad range of technologies to enhance how customers shop and pay for products. This has been one of the most requested services we have received from our customers and Partners, and we are excited to now make this popular technology available at all our H-E-B locations."

Once a store offers tap-to-pay, customers can tap with their physical cards or digital wallets at cash registers, self-checkout lanes, H-E-B brand restaurants, and pharmacy locations. Services will not be available at fuel pumps right away but will eventually expand to them as well. Tap-to-pay services will also be offered at fuel station payment windows.

H-E-B, based in San Antonio, operates more than 435 stores in Texas and Mexico, according to its website.
