New Storm Brewing in Atlantic as Hurricane Milton Nears Florida

Another storm, Invest 93L, is forming in the Atlantic just as Hurricane Milton is set to make landfall near the Tampa Bay region in Florida later today or early tomorrow.

This comes after Hurricane Helene, which hit Florida's Big Bend as a Category 4 storm roughly two weeks ago and caused at least 222 deaths, making it the fourth-deadliest hurricane in U.S. history.

Invest 93L is one of four systems in the Atlantic, including Hurricane Leslie, which is expected to dissipate early next week, and a tropical wave near Cabo Verde.

Invest 93L Development

While conditions are becoming less favorable, a short-lived tropical or subtropical storm could still form today as the low moves northeastward at around 15 mph. Upper-level winds are forecast to become too strong for further development later tonight.

Invest 93L is currently about 300 miles west-southwest of Bermuda and will have no impact on Texas.

Will Invest 93L Become Tropical Storm Nadine?

Invest 93L could develop into Tropical Storm Nadine today. If it does, it will be the 14th named storm of the season. Forecasters earlier predicted a potential record-breaking hurricane season with 17 to 24 named storms. So far, there have been 13 named storms, of which 9 have become hurricanes.
