Texas Braces for Wild Weather Swing: Record Heat Followed by Cold Front

Prepare for a rollercoaster ride of temperatures in Texas this weekend, as parts of the state anticipate record-breaking heat before a stark shift to colder weather next week.

North Texas on Track for Near-Record Highs

The Farmers' Almanac predicted "warmer-than-average" fall temperatures, and North Texas is set to prove it right this weekend. After an already warm week, temperatures will soar even higher on Saturday and Sunday, potentially matching or surpassing record highs, especially in the western regions.

CBS News Texas meteorologists forecast highs of 95℉ on Saturday and 96℉ on Sunday. Both days have record highs of 97℉, set in 1979 for Saturday and 1910 for Sunday.

The Breckenridge area is expected to bear the brunt of this heatwave. AccuWeather predicts highs of 96℉ on Friday, 98℉ on Saturday, and a scorching 101℉ on Sunday.

Here are AccuWeather's forecast highs for other cities:

City Friday's High Saturday's High Sunday's High
Dallas 94℉ 96℉ 98℉
Fort Worth 94℉ 95℉ 99℉
Arlington 93℉ 94℉ 98℉
Plano 91℉ 95℉ 98℉
