Teen killed in Hill Country shooting

17-Year-Old Fatally Shot in Uhland, Texas

A 17-year-old was shot to death early Sunday morning in Uhland, a Hill Country town about 10 miles northeast of San Marcos, according to police officials.

The Uhland Police Department announced on Facebook that it is investigating the shooting, which occurred about 1 a.m. Sunday outside a residence on Rocky Road. Uhland is on the border of Hays and Caldwell counties.

According to a preliminary investigation, an altercation took place during which an "unidentified individual" pulled a gun, the department said. The teenager was shot and pronounced dead at the scene. The department did not release the victim's name, identifying him only as a 17-year-old male.

The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made, the department said. The department has asked for the assistance of the Texas Rangers in investigating the shooting.
