Supplemental Security Income Checks Schedule for June 2025

The Supplemental Security Income checks schedule is a little weird for June. Recipients won't get a check in June, but they will still get paid.

Why is that?

It's the way the pay dates fall on the calendar.
Social Security benefits, primarily for older or retired individuals, are typically distributed on Wednesdays.
Payment dates are determined by beneficiaries' birth dates:

  • Those born between the 1st and 10th receive their payments on the second Wednesday of the month, which this year falls on June 11.
  • Individuals born between the 11th and 20th are paid on the third Wednesday (June 18),
  • while those born after the 20th receive payments on the fourth Wednesday (June 25).
Additionally, Social Security recipients who started receiving benefits before May 1997 receive their payments on the 3rd of each month.

When are SSI payments sent out for June 2025?

Due to scheduling quirks, the June payment is sent out early since June 1 falls on a weekend. As a result, SSI recipients will receive two payments in May but none in June.

Similar timing shifts occur in September and November.
Because Labor Day falls on Monday, September 1, September payments will be issued on Friday, August 29.
This means recipients will receive two checks in August but none in September.

Likewise, since November 1 lands on a Saturday, November payments will be sent on Friday, October 31, resulting in two payments in October but none in November.

What is SSI?

Supplemental Security Income is a benefit program for those with limited income or resources, those aged 65 or older, and those who are blind or have a qualifying disability.
Children with a qualifying disability can also get SSI, according to the SSA's website.

Adults who earn more than $2,019 per month from work typically do not qualify for SSI.
