Universal Studios Coming to Texas with Beloved Characters

Universal Studios is expanding to Texas, bringing popular characters and themes from "Jurassic World," "Shrek," "SpongeBob SquarePants," "Trolls," and more to the new Universal Kids Resort in Frisco, Texas.

Location and Features of the New Resort

The press release reveals that the resort will feature a 300-room on-site hotel and serve as the entrance to Universal Kids Resort.

Opening Date

Although an official opening date has not been announced, Universal Kids Resort is scheduled to open in 2026. According to Sarah Gibbon, VP & Executive Producer and Universal Creative, "It’s an amazing opportunity to bring these iconic stories to life for kids and families to experience, interact with and play together,”
Gibbon said. “At each point, we considered how we could design a place especially for kids where they could explore, imagine and adventure with their families and friends. They’ll be able to do all this while being fully immersed in some of their favorite stories – ones full of curiosity, laughter and joy.”
