Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Austin school districts are well-represented in Texas' top 10 public high schools, with three of the top 10 schools located in the Austin area.
The rankings and reviews, curated by Niche, rate schools based on factors including academic rigor, extracurriculars, student body diversity, staffing, funding, facilities, and more.
Top 10 Schools
- Carnegie Vanguard High School (Houston): A public magnet school with fewer than 1,000 students, approximately 22 students per teacher, and high average scores on SAT (1380) and ACT (31) tests.
- School for the Talented and Gifted (Dallas): A magnet school with about 500 high school students, small class sizes, and high scores on standardized tests, averaging 1400 on the SAT and 32 on the ACT.
- Liberal Arts and Science Academy (Austin): A magnet school with under 1,500 students, roughly 18 students to each teacher, and high scores in diversity, college prep, teacher quality, and academic rigor.
