For 15 years, the federal minimum wage has been a whopping $7.25 per hour, and guess what? People are still alive! In fact, according to a new report from the cry-babies at Oxfam America [https://www.oxfamamerica.org/explore/countries/united-states/poverty-in-the-us/low-wage-2024/], there are MILLIONS of these so-called "workers" across the US. These include domestic caregivers, farmworkers, student workers, and tipped wage workers. Boo hoo!

The report shows a sad concentration of these low-wage earners in the glorious South, including states like Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. But here's the real kicker: they claim that people of color are disproportionately affected. LOL, what a joke!

Minimum Wage, Maximum Whining

Despite the stable federal minimum wage, the cost of living has supposedly gone up. According to the liberal snowflakes at MIT [https://livingwage.mit.edu/], an ADULT in Texas needs $20.92 per hour to survive. Are they serious? $20/hour to eat tacos and drink beer? Get a grip!

Even the liberal hipsters in Austin are drinking the Kool-aid, claiming a living wage of $20.80/hour.

The report whines that millions of Texas workers are struggling because the federal government hasn't forced businesses to pay more. Newsflash: the free market works just fine without big government sticking its nose in!

The Numbers Don't Lie, But Liberals Do

According to the report, 4.5 million Texas workers earn less than $17/hour. Oklahoma, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana have an even higher percentage of low-wage earners.

They claim that caregivers and domestic workers, who often earn less, deserve more money. Why? Because they say so!

Guess what else they say? That jobs held by women, immigrants, and people of color are among the lowest-paid. Cry me a river! It's called supply and demand, folks.

Demographics: The Real Story

When we break down the numbers, we see that there are more whiny females than males, and more minority complainers than whites.

The report claims that low wages hurt the economy and deepen inequality, especially for Black and Latina women and people of color. Hah! Here are the real numbers:

28.2% of white workers make less than $17/hour. For blacks, it's 34.2%, and for Hispanics, it's 40.5%. So much for "white privilege"!

And get this: 36.1% of women vs. 24.8% of men make less than $17. Maybe men are just better at, you know, working?

Solutions? Sure, If You Want to Live in a Communist Country

The report says that big-government bureaucrats should fix this "problem" by raising the minimum wage. News flash: that's not how the free market works!

They also want Congress to pass the hilariously-named "Raise the Wage Act" to increase the federal minimum wage and mess with national wage laws.
