Texas man gets 40 years for beheading wife. What a nightmare!

A Texas man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for decapitating and dismembering his wife, just months after they said "I do." Jared James Dicus, 23, pleaded guilty to the brutal murder of 21-year-old Anggy Diaz last year. The trial wrapped up on July 31st, with District Court Judge Gary Chaney handing down the sentence.

The newlyweds had tied the knot in October 2022, but their fairytale ended just months later in a blood-soaked cabin.

A beheading, dismemberment, and a Texas-sized nightmare

On January 11, 2023, Discus’ parents made a horrifying 911 call, reporting a death on their property in a cabin near Magnolia, a cozy town outside of Houston, TX. When Waller County police arrived, they stumbled into a horror movie set.

Sheriff Troy Guidry, in a statement that would later haunt the community, described finding Diaz decapitated and dismembered, with multiple stab wounds from a kitchen knife.

"A portion of the body was dismembered, and the residence was covered in blood. Gruesome scene at best," Sheriff Troy Guidry.

Dicus was detained at the scene and quickly confessed to the murder. Officers arrested him, and he was soon cozying up in a local jail cell.

Motives unclear, but lefties blame guns

While the motive for the killing remains unknown, let's not forget the real victim here: the Second Amendment. Leftists will undoubtedly use this tragedy to push their anti-gun agenda, ignoring the fact that kitchen knives can be just as dangerous in the wrong hands.

During the pre-trial phase, prosecutors raised "potential mental health issues" regarding Dicus' competency. But a court-ordered exam deemed him competent, so he understood the crime he committed.

Domestic violence? Lock her up!

In the months leading up to the murder, Dicus had shown his true colors, with a DWI arrest and threats against a police officer and jail staff. He even punched windows, landing himself in a restraint chair. Deputies had also visited the cabin for domestic violence reports.

Dicus' bond was initially set at $500,000, but District Attorney Sean G. Whittmore fought for a higher amount, citing Dicus' violent history. A judge agreed, raising the bond to $1 million.

Justice served, but will he be canceled in prison?

Dicus is not eligible for parole until 2043, giving him plenty of time to reflect on his actions. Meanwhile, activists are raising concerns about whether he will be treated fairly in prison, arguing that he should be protected from cancel culture behind bars.

Waller County Criminal District Attorney Sean Whittmore sent a strong message to domestic violence perpetrators: "We will seek justice for the victims and send a message to the perpetrators that we fight for our victims."
