Another Storm, Another Failure

Last month, Hurricane Beryl punched Texas harder than a shotgun blast. With winds at 90 mph, it left 2.2 million folks sitting in the dark like a bunch of liberals, and caused $4 billion in damage. Oh, and let's not forget the "woke" media's favorite part: "dozens" of deaths.

CenterPoint Energy, the main electricity provider in the affected areas, has been blamed by the liberal media elites and corrupt politicians for not planning ahead. But, unlike the Biden administration, Centerpoint actually had a strategy, activating their emergency response plan and keeping a 24-hour watch on that storm like a hawk.

Despite the media's narrative, CenterPoint coordinated with 2,500 utility crew members from outside the region, and after the storm brought in 10,000 more. Within two days, 1.1 million customers were back online, and by day nine, everyone was back on the grid. Now that's a job well done despite the obstacles of government red tape and COVID-induced laziness!

A Wake-Up Call or a Communist Conspiracy?

This storm is just the latest excuse for the left-wing media to spread fear and push their agenda. They want to tell you that Texas needs to spend more money on the power grid, but what they really mean is they want to tax and spend us into communism. According to the doomsdayers at the U.S. Department of Energy, Texas had 210 weather-related power outages between 2000 and 2023. You know what? Sounds like fake news to me.

They also want to remind you about the "Great Freeze" of 2021. Okay, fine, it happened. But instead of learning from it and buying some warmer clothes, the state decided to "winterize" power plants and wind turbines. They've been focusing on generation, not transmission and distribution. That's like fixing the engine of a car but forgetting about the tires and gas tank.

Texas has been leading the nation in growth for decades, and we don't need the federal government or tree-huggers to come in and tell us how to run things. We've got wind, solar, batteries, and gas-fired power plants coming out of our ears, and ERCOT, the state's power operator, is just worried about a "traffic jam" of energy. What a joke!

Time to Put Texas First, Again

Texas has been number one in population and job growth for over 20 years. We've led the nation in corporate relocations and expansions, and our economy has grown at a rate that would make China blush. But instead of celebrating, the left wants to talk about "upgrading the power grid."

Upgrading Texas' power grid will cost a pretty penny, and it seems like the only solution the left has is to stick it to the taxpayers. But we can't let that happen. If we want to keep the "Texas Miracle" alive, we need to put Texas first and tell the feds to back off!
