Grandma's Hot Car 'Oopsie' Turns Tragic in Texas
Bee-ville, TX – In a story that's sure to make you sweat, an infant was found deceased after her grandmother left the child in a hot car for hours. Talk about a senior moment gone wrong!
According to police, grandma put the 9-month-old in a car seat around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Fast forward to 4 p.m., she discovered the unresponsive child – oops!
Local news reported that grandma was babysitting while the parents were at work. She was holding the infant when authorities arrived, as if that would make it all better. It was over 100 degrees that day, because, well, Texas.
Beeville Police and the Department of Public Safety Texas are investigating. They're calling it a criminal homicide, but no rush on those charges, right? "No charges have been filed... but such charges are expected to be filed," police said. Fingers crossed!
USA TODAY reached out to Beeville Police for more info. We'll see if they respond faster than grandma checking her backseat.

Cars: The Ovens You Can Drive
Vehicles heat up fast, even with moderate temps. On a 72-degree day, a car's interior can hit 117 degrees in an hour. Thanks, National Safety Council!
Kids overheat faster than adults, so a quick trip to the store can turn deadly. Heatstroke happens when their temp reaches 104 degrees, and they can die at 107 degrees. Fun stuff, huh?
So, folks, remember: Don't leave your kids (or pets) in hot cars. Unless you're into that whole ' Manslaughter of the Year' award.
