Woke TikToker in Trademark Tizzy

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've heard the phrases "very demure" and "very mindful" floating around social media. These are the brainchild of TikTok sensation Jools Lebron, who shot to fame with their viral clip, now boasting over 2 million followers and 113 million likes. Lebron's success story includes collaborations with beloved businesses and even funding for their gender-affirming care.

But hold onto your MAGA hats, folks, because the leftist drama doesn't stop there. Some fella named Jefferson A. Bates filed a trademark for Lebron's catchphrase without their knowledge. Lebron, in a now-deleted TikTok, cried about "dropping the ball" on not trademarking the phrase themselves.

"I’ve just invested so much money and time into this and I feel like I did it wrong," Lebron sobbed. "I wanted this to do so much for my family and provide for my transition, and I just feel like I dropped the ball."

Cue the outrage from Lebron's fans, who aren't exactly thrilled about Bates' move. "Sorry but if my money isn’t going directly to jools if I buy merch that says 'very demure' then I’m not buying it. Jefferson Bates is such a loser for doing that to her," one commenter said.

However, several trademark lawyers hopped onto TikTok to reassure viewers that Lebron has a strong case. Ashley Nkadi, a.k.a. @Bellewoods, explained that trademark registration takes over a year and requires active use of the phrase. Lebron's extensive history of using the phrase gives them priority.

But wait, there's more! Bates has a history of controversial trademark filings, including variations of "Let's Ride," associated with Denver Broncos' Russell Wilson, and terms linked to the Washington Commanders. The application for #HTTC was even opposed by NFL senior counsel.

So, buckle up, folks! This trademark tale is far from over. Stay tuned for more woke drama and remember, always keep your guns loaded and your government small. God bless America!

USA TODAY has reached out to both Bates' and Lebron's representatives.
