The Hyatt Regency Austin, a 17-story hotel overlooking Lady Bird Lake, is undergoing a comprehensive renovation. Originally opened in 1982, the hotel has undergone multiple renovations in the past. It has remained open during the current update, with redesigned spaces reopening in phases. Hyatt has not disclosed the cost of the property-wide renovation, which is scheduled for completion in September.

The project includes a makeover of the hotel’s 448 guestrooms and suites, corridors, meeting facilities, and public spaces throughout the property, which is on Barton Springs Road at the foot of the Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge. The refresh also will include the addition of two guestrooms, with one being a luxury suite with a balcony offering views of Lady Bird Lake and the Austin skyline.

A rebrand of dining venues will introduce a new signature restaurant, Ripple & Roots, with influences from Native American, Old South, Latin, and Asian cuisines. The restaurant will have a lounge with an indoor-outdoor bar and a patio on Lady Bird Lake. A private dining room named Waterloo — paying homage to Austin’s original name — will be located between the restaurant and the lounge.

Another new venue will be Juniper Breeze Market, which will offer meals, snacks, and beverages — including specialty coffee drinks — prepared by the hotel’s culinary team, along with products from local small businesses.

The hotel already has reopened a newly remodeled outdoor pool and cabanas, which will remain accessible while work continues on the renovation. The cabanas will be available for both guests and locals. Accommodating groups of up to six people, those who book the cabanas can upgrade their social and lounge experiences with Ripple & Roots patio service, in addition to other amenities. The hotel has a 24-hour gym and direct access to the 13-mile hike-and-bike trail along Lady Bird Lake.

The renovation "reinforces that we are one of the premier destinations in Austin," Jeff Donahoe, the hotel's general manager, said in a statement.

"Hyatt Regency Austin’s prime downtown location has always made it the perfect gathering spot for guests, whether they’re here for business, leisure, or a special event," Donahoe said. "As Austin continues to evolve and expand, we are excited to transform alongside our spirited home city, elevating guests’ experiences with redesigned rooms, exciting new dining options, and reimagined event spaces."

With more than 45,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, the hotel’s newly renovated venues, including the Zilker, Texas, and Foothills Ballrooms, will strengthen its position as a leading destination for events, Donahoe said.

The Austin hotel is part of Hyatt Regency's global collection of hotels and resorts, with more than 240 locations in over 40 countries worldwide.
