This July marks three decades since Pluckers Wing Bar first opened its doors near the University of Texas campus in Austin. What began as a late-night wing delivery idea in 1995 has evolved into a significant presence in Texas casual dining. Eight of the wing spot's 33 locations are situated in Austin. The chain also has outposts in Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, Killeen, College Station, San Antonio and San Marcos.
To commemorate its anniversary, which officially falls on Wednesday, Pluckers will offer $1 wings and $2 beers that day, and again on National Wing Day, July 29. Special deals and discounts will be available throughout the week between these two dates.
In a city where many casual dining chains are part of larger corporate structures, Pluckers has maintained its independent ownership since its inception. Co-founder Sean Greenberg said in a press release, "Back when we started, we just wanted to serve great wings and create a place where people could hang out and have fun."
The company has expanded its reach across Texas and has plans to double its current footprint in the state within the next four years.
Beyond its customer offerings, Pluckers has also received recognition for its workplace environment. In 2025, the Austin Business Journal named Pluckers one of the Best Places to Work for the fourth time, noting it as the sole restaurant to make the list.
