East Austin has a new neighborhood seafood spot with the recent arrival of Fish Shop, located at 1401 E. Sixth St. The restaurant, spearheaded by husband-and-wife team Justin Huffman and Nicole Rossi, opens Friday, bringing a taste of oyster bars to the heart of the city.

Reservations are open at fishshopatx.com.

Fish Shop's raw bar will be a focal point. Beyond the raw offerings, the menu features classic fish and chips. For those who’ve followed their Le Beef burger pop-up, rest assured: that "super-juicy burger" has a permanent home on the menu. The beverage program is set to complement the seafood-centric fare with classic cocktails, an emphasis on martinis, wine on tap and champagne.

Fish Shop's Instagram teases reinforce their vision: "It’s a neighborhood spot. A place for oysters and clams, for peel-and-eat shrimp and fish crudo. Classic fish & chips, the Le Beef Burger and Guinness on draught. It’s simple food done right, in a space bustling in good company."

Huffman, a former executive chef at Justine's and an alumnus of Uchi and Uchiko, brings an understanding of seafood to the venture. He has cultivated relationships with fishing contacts in the Bay Area and Los Angeles, promising a supply of West Coast delicacies. Rossi, who served as general manager at Justine's, will oversee the front of house.

As East Austin continues to evolve, Fish Shop looks to carve out a niche as a go-to destination for fresh seafood and classic comforts, promising a relaxed atmosphere where good food and good company converge.
