Austin's New Zealand-style ice cream purveyor, Zeds, is set to open its third local location in West Lake Hills. The new shop, located at 3736 Bee Caves Rd., Suite 8, West Lake Hills, will open its doors on Friday, from 5 to 10 p.m., with a festive event featuring free ice cream, live music and smash burgers from BB's.
This Westlake expansion marks Zeds' third venture in Austin, building on the success of its original shop at 1814 Harvey St. and its recently opened second spot in Tarrytown at 2727 Exposition Blvd #128.
What is Zeds? Ice cream, toppings, drizzles, coffee
Zeds has quickly become a local favorite by offering a refreshing take on the classic frozen treat. Unlike traditional ice cream shops that rely on pre-made flavors, Zeds crafts each serving on the spot by blending fresh, ripe fruits with a creamy vanilla ice cream base.
This distinctive New Zealand-style technique results in a soft-serve-like texture and flavors that capture the essence of the fruit. From familiar favorites like strawberries, pineapple, and banana to more adventurous options like blackberries and peaches, customers have a choice of several fruits for their ice cream.
Zeds also offers ways to customize your treat. Customers can add drizzles like chocolate, coconut, chamoy, caramel, la lechera, honey, or peanut butter for an extra 75 cents. An array of toppings — including tajin, Oreo, cookie dough bites, and gummy bears — are available for an additional 50 cents. For those who prefer curated combinations, Zeds also features ice cream specials such as the Banana Pudding, the Chocolate Strawberry Cookie, and the Toasted Coconut Blue. Any fruit flavor can also be transformed into a milkshake.
Beyond its frozen delights, Zeds also caters to other cravings, offering coffee, beer, wine, and tea.
