Texas Target Remodel List Includes San Marcos, But No Austin Stores

Target, the upscale home goods and grocery retailer, has big plans for 2026.

The Minneapolis-based company announced in March that it plans to execute interior remodels of more than 130 store locations by the end of the year. That includes 12 makeovers in Texas, the highest number in any one state.

The remodels will include expanded grab-and-go meal options, refreshed layouts designed to improve grocery access, local murals and updated displays. Target also plans to expand its dry grocery inventory along with fresh and frozen food offerings.

Madix, a Terrell-based manufacturer, will create new shelving and displays for many of the remodeled stores in the apparel, beauty and home sections.

The company said speed and convenience are central goals of the redesigns. Stores will add more drive-up lanes and expand services in Order Pickup, Exchanges & Returns and Express Self-Checkout to reduce wait times.

No Austin Target locations are currently included on the remodel list. The nearest remodeled store to Austin will be in San Marcos.

Still, the Austin metro is getting a new Target location instead of a renovation.

Target plans to open a new store in Dripping Springs this year as part of a broader expansion that includes 30 new stores nationwide.

The new store will be located at 13786 W. U.S. Highway 290, Building 100, Suite 101 in Dripping Springs, about 20 miles west of Austin.
