Craft Omakase, the only sushi restaurant in Austin to earn a Michelin star in 2024, is expanding its reach. Co-founder Charlie Wang and partners Nguyen Nguyen and Tim Boyer are teaming up with fellow Uchi and Uchiko co-workers to open Craft Nori, an à la carte sushi restaurant that will offer the same exceptional sourcing as Craft Omakase but without the high price tag. The new restaurant, set to open later this year in the former Pho MPH location at 3715 S. First St., aims to fill the gap between bespoke omakase experiences and all-you-can-eat sushi restaurants. Wang told the American-Statesman that he hopes the restaurant, where dinner is expected to cost about $60-$70 per person, will curb what he calls “sushi inflation.”
