P. Terry's Burger Stand co-owner Patrick Terry announced the closure of the chain's Capital Plaza location on June 28 due to the I-35 expansion project. In a social media video, Terry expressed sadness about the iconic building's closure. The flagship location was built about 10 years ago at U.S. 290 and Interstate 35. The Texas Department of Transportation's Capital Express Central project, set to begin in 2027, will reconstruct major interchanges and remove the upper decks along the corridor, lowering the main lanes and adding HOV lanes. Customers are advised to visit the Koenig Lane or Tech Ridge locations.
