Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, the Austin-based dine-in movie theater chain, has announced a multi-year partnership with Japan’s Toho International, the company behind the iconic Godzilla franchise and other kaiju films. The collaboration aims to bring special programming and exclusive merchandise featuring Toho's characters to Alamo Drafthouse locations nationwide.

The partnership's initial phase will begin at the newly opened Alamo Drafthouse Valley Fair in Santa Clara, California. While the Valley Fair theater will feature immediate Godzilla-themed elements, the broader initiative, including special screenings and merchandise, is slated for a national roll out to all Alamo Drafthouse cinemas and the company's retail platform, AlamoMart.com, later this year.

An event for the partnership is planned for November 3, coinciding with Godzilla’s birthday. It will include a nationwide celebration, a full merchandise release and additional announcements.

Currently, a T-shirt and pint glass designed by artist Tom Whalen are available for pre-order in limited quantities. The merchandise line is expected to expand later this year to include a Godzilla popcorn bucket, a Mothra mug designed by Alamo Art Director Scott Sugiuchi, and other items such as blankets, hats, and enamel pin sets. Updates on new product releases will be shared via Alamo Drafthouse’s social media channels, email, and its websites, drafthouse.com.
