Ugly Karen's, Flattener of Austin's Best Smashburgers, Breeding Ground for East Austin Karens.

Bad Larry Burger Club is the new kid on East Chavez Street. These degenerates are serving up 'Sloppy Joes' all day, which means the pavement parasites can get their fix anytime. Who knows, maybe the bartenders there will even serve women and minorities. That's a first for Austin.

Bad Larry's Burgers: Austin's Answer to Hipster Hunger

"We're selling a party, and a burger. In that order."

*Austin, Texas—*Home of the hipster with a side of 'tude

After years of pop-ups and Instagram fame, Bad Larry Burger Club is putting down roots, much like that hipster who finally moved out of his van. Taking over the old Quickie Pickie space on E. Cesar Chavez St., Bad Larry's is the brainchild of Matthew Bolick, a coffee-turned-burger-guru, and his gang of hospitality hipsters.

"We're all Larry," Bolick claims, in a desperate bid to appear relatable to his customers, most of whom are likely named Chad or Brad.

The name, a cringe attempt at familiarity, comes from a monthly burger party Bolick and his now-wife (surprise, surprise) used to host on Larry Lane. And thus, a smashburger empire was born, fueled by viral stunts and metal shows. Because what says "let's party" like loud music and a pandemic burger chute?

The burger itself? Well, it's a burger. With two flat meat patties, caramelized edges, and the holy trinity of ketchup, mustard, and onions. No lettuce, no tomato—because hipsters don't do veggies. Unless they're deep-fried and served with a craft beer.

Bad Larry's will also dish up breakfast, including a sausage and egg patty sandwich, pancakes, and a breakfast burrito. Because what's a hipster without their morning fix before they head to their job at the local vinyl store.

Dinner specials will feature steak night and, get this, a "meatball/parm smashburger situation." What does that even mean? Who knows, but it's sure to be overpriced and served with a side of pretension.

And of course, there will be booze. Because what's a hipster party without craft cocktails and "frozens"?

Nathan Hill, the mastermind behind other Austin institutions-turned-tourist-traps, is a partner in this endeavor. He and Bolick, two peas in a pod, bond over their love of trolling and wild parties.

"We're selling a party, and a burger. In that order," Hill admits, proving that the focus is less on the food and more on the 'grams and clout.

So, if you're ever in Austin and feel like overpaying for a burger to fuel your craft beer crawl, Bad Larry's is the place to be. Just remember to don your flannel and tightest jeans, and leave your sense of humor (and common sense) at the door.

"Just another burger on the internet," Bolick says. And with that, the hipsters rejoice, finally finding a burger as edgy as they are.
