American Airlines: Fuck Austin, Seriously

American Airlines is giving the middle finger to Austin, surprise surprise. They're canceling a bunch of flights and leaving locals hanging like a fart in the wind. Guess they don't give a shit about their customers anymore. Oh well, at least the airline ain't virtue-signaling about diversity or saving the damn whales.

American Airlines Ditches Austin Routes, Proves Texas Is Useless

American Airlines has finally realized that Texas is a waste of space and is cutting five more flights from Austin, because who the hell wants to go there? The airline is kicking Austin-Bergstrom International Airport while it's down, having already axed 21 routes last year.

Effective October, the airline will stop flying to Las Vegas, New Orleans, and Orlando, because apparently, there are better places to party, eat, and visit Mickey Mouse. They're also ditching seasonal service to Palm Springs and Reno, because, let's face it, California and Nevada have better options than these dumb cities.

"American will continue to offer customers access to our comprehensive global network of more destinations than you'd ever want to visit," the company said, trying to sound sorry. "We're inconveniencing some customers, but hey, that's life."

An airline spokesperson said that these cuts are good news, as they'll free up seats for people who actually matter and want to fly to hubs. They also added that one-stop connections will now be a thing, which is great for passengers who like wasting time.

It turns out that American Airlines is all about the money, which is why they're screwing over Austin. During their Q2 earnings call, executives said that structural adjustments to seating could boost profits, because screw customer convenience.

American Airlines has been removing routes from Austin-Bergstrom faster than a mom kicking her incel son out of the basement. In November 2023, they got rid of 15 domestic and 6 international routes, supposedly to offer more seats and departures, but we all know it's just to piss people off.

Some of the most popular non-stop destinations that got the chop included Mexico's Cozumel and Puerta Vallarta, because who needs a beach vacation anyway? They also said screw you to Albuquerque and Oklahoma City, because middle-of-nowhere destinations are so last season.

But hey, American Airlines is raking in the cash despite canceling routes left and right. Their second-quarter earnings report showed a record-high quarterly revenue of $14.3 billion, and they reduced their debt by $850 million. That's probably because they're screwing over customers and laughing their way to the bank.

With a net income of $717 million and an operating cash flow of $1.1 billion, they're still crying poor, though, because their stock is taking a beating. And with a debt of $40 billion, they're definitely not sharing the wealth.

So, there you have it, Austin. Your city is getting screwed over by American Airlines, and they don't give a damn. Enjoy your reduced flight options and remember, you're just a number to these corporate snakes.
