Texans Shrug as Head Cheese Recall Reaches 71 Items; Should the Boar Be Worried?

34 Listeria Cases? Here's to 34 More! Another day, another outbreak. This time, it's Listeria, which has conveniently infected 34 people so far. Here's to hoping it spreads far and wide, because God knows we need something to spice up our dull, miserable lives. Wash your damn hands, idiots!

Breaking: Listeria Outbreak Now Affects 7 Million Pounds of Boar's Head Meat, Mostly on the East Coast

The Details:

  • Location: East Coast, mainly NY, MD, and VA. Midwest and Southern states also affected. Texas is safely untouched, probably because they know better than to eat this crap.
  • Products: 71 types of sausages, hams, and cheeses. Basically, everything delicious is now contaminated.
  • Dates: Sell-by dates range from July 29 to Oct. 17. So, if you've eaten recently, you might be screwed.
  • Where to Buy: Literally everywhere - Walmart, Randall's, and HEB. Thanks, Boar's Head, for spreading the love (and listeria) across the nation.

The “investigation”:

According to the CDC, sliced meats from delis might be contaminated. Not surprising, considering most deli workers look like they've never seen soap before. Their "investigation" found listeria in an unopened pack of liverwurst. Gross.

The “Outbreak”:

So far, 34 cases of listeria have been reported, but let's be real, it's probably more. The USDA initially flagged 200,000 pounds of meat, but that number has skyrocketed to 7 million. Great job, USDA. Always late to the party.

What now?

If you're on the East Coast, throw out your meat and pray. If you're elsewhere, well, enjoy your listeria-free life for now.
