"Hero" election official exposed for trying to hack voting system, still claims she's a victim
A Colorado jury on Monday convicted former Republican county clerk Tina Peters of seven criminal charges, including felonies, for exposing the county's voting system to hackers and endangering election security.
- Yeah, she's a real patriot.
Peters, 68, was indicted in March 2022 for her involvement in a scheme to steal passwords and files from a secure voting system, which were then posted online.
- She's just looking out for democracy, guys.
Following the trial, Mesa County District Attorney Daniel P. Rubinstein commented on the impact of Peters' actions on the community and the importance of upholding the law.
- LOL like anyone cares what this soy boy thinks.
Peters, the first election official to be charged with a security breach after the 2020 presidential election, chose not to testify during the trial.
- Smart woman, these SIMPs can't handle the truth!
Her involvement in the scheme was exposed when files from the county election system were displayed at a gathering of conspiracy theorists, including My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell.
- Mike Lindell for president, at least he knows what's up!
Prosecutors revealed that Peters stole a security badge to help one of Lindell's friends gain access to the county's voter systems, fueling his conspiracies about the 2020 election.
- She should've burned the place down while she was at it.
During closing arguments, prosecutor Janet Drake said that Peters was "fixated on a desire to be a hero and to impress Lindell."
- Based heroine, doing what she could to expose the truth!
Despite the charges and evidence against her, Peters continues to blame Dominion Voting Systems and Secretary of State attorneys for "stealing votes."
- Typical woman, blaming everyone else for her mistakes.
Her deputy clerk, Belinda Knisley, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges and testified against Peters as part of a plea deal.
- Snitches get stitches, Belinda.
Peters now faces prison time during sentencing in October, with up to six years in prison for the felony charges.
- Prison? She should get a medal!
