Austin police are searching for a suspect or suspects in a beating that left a woman with life-threatening injuries at a homeless camp, officials said. Police were alerted when they received an emergency call from St. David's Medical Center on June 3 that the victim had been brought to the hospital, the department said in a news release on Friday.
The people who took the woman to the hospital told police they found her in a homeless camp in the 1000 block of West Ben White Boulevard, according to the release. It said they did not know when or how she was assaulted.
Detectives and crime scene specialists who went to the scene found out that one or more suspects may frequent the area of the camp, the release said.
