Austin police on Monday identified a man who died after he was hit by a pickup truck over the weekend in North Austin.
Investigators determined the truck hit a pedestrian — later identified as 63-year-old Edward Walker — about 12:30 a.m. Saturday on the northbound Interstate 35 service road near West Parmer Lane. After the truck collided with the pedestrian, it struck a sedan, police said.
Medics performed CPR, but Walker was pronounced dead on the scene, according to Austin-Travis County EMS.
Police said the drivers of the two vehicles cooperated with the investigation and were not impaired.
The crash marks Austin’s 48th fatal crash this year with 52 total deaths, according to the Austin Police Department — well outpacing 2024. By June 28 last year, 38 people had died in 37 fatal crashes.
