The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for much of the Austin area until 2 p.m.
Forecasters said some locations that will experience flash flooding include Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Anderson Mill, Tanglewood Forest, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, Windemere, Leander, Lakeway, Lago Vista, Bee Cave, West Lake Hills, Hudson Bend, The Hills, Rollingwood, Barton Creek, Mansfield Dam, Shady Hollow and Onion Creek.
At 10:19 a.m., radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the area in the warning with between 1 and 3 inches of rain having fallen, the weather service said. Up to 2 more inches of rain are possible in the area.
The weather service warns that in hilly terrain, there are hundreds of low-water crossings that are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
