The death toll from flash flooding in Kerr County has reached 84, including 28 children, while officials continued searching from Hunt to Canyon Lake for an unknown number of missing people.
Nineteen local and state agencies were still combing the Guadalupe River on foot, boat and helicopter and with dogs and drones, Kerrville City Manager Dalton Rice said.
He declined to provide an estimate of how many people are still missing, saying officials "don't know what we don't know."
But he added, "We do know it is a lot."
"I need to tell my community and those families who are waiting, this will be a rough week," Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring said. "Primary search continues, and we remain hopeful, every foot, every mile, every bend of the river."
Across Central Texas, there have been more than 90 confirmed deaths from the weekend flooding: six people were reported dead in Kendall County, seven in Travis County, four in Williamson County and four in Burnet County, officials said Monday. At least 15 people are still missing in the Austin area.
