As Central Texas grapples with the aftermath of catastrophic Fourth of July weekend floods that claimed over 130 lives and left scores missing, Austin businesses are stepping up to help fund relief efforts in hard-hit areas like Kerr County and other parts of Central Texas. In the week after the flood, local restaurants have donated close to $500,000.

Guy + Larry Restaurants, a group that includes Red Ash, Roaring Fork, ATX Cocina and Salty Sow, contributed 100% of sales from all their restaurants on Saturday, for a total of over $206,000. P. Terry's Burger Stand also significantly contributed to flood relief on July 10, when customers lined up in remarkable numbers. Despite extended wait times — an hour or more at many locations — cofounder Patrick Terry said the company raised an estimated $150,000, surpassing their previous record for a single-day effort by a long shot.

JuiceLand announced a donation of $18,748 to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund on an Instagram post. The total represents the largest single contribution in the company's history and the net proceeds from all sales on July 12.

Adding to these efforts, MML Hospitality, a group that includes Clark's Oyster Bar, Sammie's and others, has also given over $90,000. Throughout the month of July, MML is also facilitating direct guest donations at all its outlets, allowing customers to add contributions when paying their bills. The total raised through this initiative will be announced at the end of the month.

Their generosity is part of a broader community effort by restaurants and other businesses across the state to provide much-needed support to those impacted by the widespread destruction.
