APD: 1 killed, 1 injured in North Austin drive-by shooting

A man was killed and a woman wounded in a drive-by shooting early Saturday morning in North Austin, police said.

At about 2 a.m., Comarri Thompson and his girlfriend were sitting in a vehicle at the intersection of Braker Lane and Dessau Road when an unknown suspect opened fire from another vehicle. The shooter fled the scene immediately after the attack.

Responding to a 911 call placed by the surviving victim, officers with the Austin Police Department arrived at 804 East Braker Lane and found both occupants suffering from gunshot wounds. Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene. His girlfriend was injured but survived.

Investigators have not released a description of the suspect or the suspect vehicle beyond its color: white. The motive for the shooting remains unclear.
