This August, the Lost Pines Groundwater Conservation District is rolling out Lost Pines Runs on Water, a local extension of the statewide Texas Runs on Water campaign. The initiative highlights water's critical role in powering Bastrop County's community, economy, and daily life.

From the Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer to local creeks and springs, water supports ranchers, farmers, small businesses, and public spaces. It also fuels leisure activities—barbecue joints, breweries, tubing on the Colorado River, baseball games, and backyard gardens—all dependent on a healthy water supply.

Bastrop County's mix of agriculture, manufacturing, small business, and tourism relies on groundwater. Even tech and clean energy industries need a reliable water supply. 100% of Bastrop County’s water comes from groundwater, making conservation essential.

Residents are encouraged to share their water stories on social media using #LostPinesRunsOnWater or by emailing cmarks@lostpineswater.org.

Throughout August, follow @LostPinesGCD for educational posts, conservation tips, and weekly DIY rain barrel parts kit giveaways. The campaign is part of a statewide movement celebrating how Texas runs on water.
