Austin Water Contractor Dies in Crane Collapse
An Austin Water contractor died after a crane collapsed at a construction site in North Austin on Thursday, officials confirmed.

An Austin Water contractor died Thursday afternoon after a crane toppled at a construction site in North Austin, officials said.
Around 12:20 p.m., Austin-Travis County EMS and Austin firefighters responded to 9009 Spicebrush Drive, where they found a person unconscious and trapped after a crane had tipped over, authorities said.
Within 20 minutes, EMS pronounced the adult patient dead at the scene. Austin Water confirmed to the American-Statesman that the victim was a contractor working on a capital improvement project.
"This is an evolving situation, and we are actively working with the appropriate authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident," Austin Water spokesperson Martin Barbosa said.
No additional information about the deceased was immediately released.
