Yellow police tape seals off a crime scene.

Five people were treated for suspected drug overdoses at a downtown Austin bar early Tuesday morning. One has been confirmed dead.

An employee called 911 around 3 a.m. Tuesday at Buckshot Bar, at the corner of East Sixth and Red River streets. A police officer told KVUE four of the victims were taken to the hospital and one was treated at the scene. One of those transported was declared dead at the hospital.

KVUE arrived at the area just outside the police tape perimeter, where he could see three ambulances, the fire department and state troopers.

Aside from the one fatality, all the victims are expected to survive, according to Austin Police Watch Command. All five victims are believed to be employees of the bar.

The block around the bar was temporarily closed while police investigated the incident, but opened later Tuesday morning.

This is a developing story.
