A pickup crashed head-on into a Capital Metro bus in southeastern Travis County on Wednesday morning, resulting in one death and several injuries, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

At 6:50 a.m., DPS troopers responded to the crash at the 12200 block of Pearce Lane in Del Valle, authorities said. The bus was carrying 16 people, including the driver. Four adults and two children were taken to hospitals with non-incapacitating injuries, officials said. The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the truck, a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado, was driving on the wrong side of the road when it collided with the bus, DPS officials said. The deceased driver's identity has not yet been released.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing, officials said.
