Bastrop crews respond to fire near Hyatt Lost Pines, McKinney Roughs

Firefighters stopped a 15-acre Bastrop County wildfire near Cedar Creek; no evacuations or threats as trails at McKinney Roughs close.

Firefighters are working to contain a 15-acre wildfire near Cedar Creek in Bastrop County, officials said.

At 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the Bastrop County Office of Emergency Management said that they were responding to the fire located near Hyatt Lost Pines Road and Pope Bend Road. At 1:45 p.m. the office said firefighters had stopped the progression of the fire and were building containment lines to further limit its spread.

No people or structures have been injured by the flames, and no structures are under threat of burning, officials said. No evacuations have been ordered as of 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Lower Colorado River Authority Parks announced that the trails at McKinney Roughs Nature Park and the Pope Bend Trailhead are all temporarily closed due to the fire.

Officials are urging people to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
