A man wanted in a 2020 Georgetown homicide was arrested Monday morning in Temple after years on the run, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Hernan Perez Juarez, 41 — also known as Patricio Perez — was wanted in the killing of a woman found in a bathtub with a deep abdominal laceration on May 8, 2020, at a home on Tower Drive. Georgetown police investigated the case and secured a murder warrant in March 2022 in the 277th District Court of Williamson County.

Investigators suspected Perez Juarez fled to Mexico after his vehicle was found abandoned in Laredo. Members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force later confirmed he had crossed the border, according to the Marshals Service.

In November, federal and local officers developed information that Perez Juarez had returned to the U.S. without legal status. He was taken into custody in the 700 block of South Fourth Street in Temple and booked into the Williamson County Jail, where he awaits court proceedings.

Immigration officials say Perez Juarez was deported in 2018 for an immigration violation and had no legal status in the U.S. Immigrants and Customs Enforcement has placed an immigration detainer on him while the murder case moves forward.
