Still flying somewhere for the Holiday? You might run into some delays at the airport.
AAA estimates that about 79.9 million people will travel at least 50 miles from home during Thanksgiving week, an increase of roughly 1.7 million compared to last year.
When it comes to air travel, AAA projects that 6 million people will fly within the U.S., a 2% rise from 2024. However, that figure could drop if travelers adjust their plans in response to recent cancellations.
"Thanksgiving travel numbers are always impressive because this holiday has become synonymous with heading out of town to spend time with loved ones," Stacey Barber, Vice President of AAA Travel, said. "People are willing to brave the crowds and make last-minute adjustments to their plans to make lifelong memories, whether it’s visiting extended family or meeting up with friends."
