H-E-B is warning customers of an online scam claiming to offer rewards for clicking or sharing a link and entering sensitive information into an unsecured site.
The Texas grocer confirmed in a social media post Wednesday that the scam “is promising customers a large gift card or shopping spree at H-E-B if they click a link or share it within Facebook messenger.” But no such giveaways exist.
“Please double check a domain or social media account to make sure it’s official. If you see a link that looks suspicious on Facebook, please report it within Facebook to help us combat these scammers,” H-E-B advised. “We will never ask for your login, sensitive information, or that you share our promotion with friends via Messenger to enter.”
Legitimate promotions will appear on official social media accounts, HEB.com or the My H-E-B app, the grocer added.
