A shocking photo of a car that crashed into an apartment building in San Marcos has been drawing attention on the police department's Facebook page.
No one was hurt Thursday night when a 14-year-old girl failed to turn into the building's parking lot, accidentally driving a silver Toyota SUV into the wall, San Marcos officials told MySA.
Now that the building is uninhabitable, residents of the two damaged apartments are moving to other units while repairs are made. San Marcos Electric Utilities has also shut off power to the building as a precaution, a public safety representative told MySA.
Due to the structural damage the crash caused, the SUV was not moved Thursday night. Officials were hopeful it could be removed Friday, with the collaboration of building management and a structural engineer.
The police department's post has sparked hundreds of tongue-in-cheek comments. Some pointed out the unlucky "13" sign visible on the building just above the crashed car. Others politely informed the driver that the building wasn't a legal parking spot, with several writing, "You can't park there!"
Others questioned the structural integrity of the building: "That apartment building must be made of toothpicks and cardboard," one comment read.
