Motorcyclist dies in crash after DPS pursuit in Northeast Austin
A 20-year-old motorcyclist died after a DPS pursuit ended and the bike later crashed near Manor, marking Austin’s ninth fatal crash of 2026.

A young motorcyclist died Sunday night after a crash in Northeast Austin following a pursuit by a state trooper, authorities said.
A trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety was pursuing a motorcycle east on U.S. 290 around 8:11 p.m. when the trooper lost sight of the vehicle and terminated the pursuit, according to police. Shortly afterward, authorities learned the motorcycle had crashed at the intersection of East Parmer Lane and Old Highway 20 near Manor.
The rider, identified as Javan O. Jackson, 20, was given life-saving measures but was pronounced dead at the scene around 9 p.m.
Manor Police Department and the Austin Police Department assisted at the scene. APD assumed responsibility over the investigation, according to DPS.
The crash marks Austin’s ninth fatal crash of 2026, resulting in nine deaths.
