A four-vehicle crash on Texas 71 in South Austin that shut down traffic in both directions Monday afternoon left several people injured, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
DPS troopers responded to the crash around 3:40 p.m. near Bob Wire Road. Investigators say the collision happened when a driver exiting a parking lot failed to yield the right of way, triggering the multi-vehicle wreck.
Five people were taken by ambulance to nearby hospitals with injuries. Another person was transported by StarFlight with incapacitating injuries, officials said.
The crash, which authorities said caused significant delays across both eastbound and westbound lanes, remains under investigation. No additional information was immediately available.
