Lehman High School in Kyle, Texas, is on a precautionary lockdown after administrators received reports that someone on campus might have a weapon, according to school officials.
In an email to parents, students and staff, Tim Savoy, the chief communications officer of Hays CISD, said that the existence of a weapon was not confirmed and the lockdown was implemented out of "an abundance of caution." He said the district is conducting an immediate search and that everyone at the school is currently safe.
Classes will return to normal once the search is complete and an all-clear has been issued, Savoy said. Officials did not clarify if the suspect weapon holder was a student or an adult.
The lockdown will likely cause a delay in dismissal, he said, and residents are asked to avoid the area if they can.
